A Step Closer to an EU Patent
5 July 2012
As 25 of the 27 European Union member states reached agreement on a European patent package on 29 June, 2012, the advent of a unified European patent system drew a step closer.
It is hoped that the introduction of a common system will lead to the patenting process in Europe being much simplified in terms of procedural and language requirements and that consequently costs will be reduced for users of the system.
Please see our Briefing Sheet here for details of the package agreed by the member states and an analysis of the potential implications.
