Our Environment

Our environmental strategy is integrated into our everyday working practices. We’ve made significant changes throughout the business and remain committed to doing everything we can to reduce our environmental impact still further.

Our Environmental Strategy is based on three main principles:

  • Reduce
  • Recycle
  • Reuse

Our Environmental Green Team
The Green Team ensures our policies are implemented in each department and office, and we are proud of the achievements already made across our business.

Reduce
Since 2012, we’ve been carrying out thorough assessments of our environmental impact, and we continue to do so annually. We have ambitious targets for reducing carbon emissions, waste to landfill and paper consumption.

We actively advise and educate all employees on how we can save energy — and why we should. We are replacing lighting, IT equipment and hand dryers with more energy efficient models, and we have invested in virtual meeting technology to reduce the need for inter-office travel.  We’ve also endeavoured to switch all company cards electric or hybrid models.

We’re proud to be a member of the Legal Sector Alliance, an inclusive group of UK law firms committed to reducing their carbon emissions and impact on climate change.

Recycle
We have introduced new office recycling facilities, removed plastic cups and reduced the number of desk bins, all of which has created a significant reduction in the waste we send to landfill. We’re optimistic that we’ll continue to see a reduction until we have achieved zero waste to landfill.

Reducing paper consumption in a legal environment is not easy, however we have introduced automatic double sided printing, dual desk screens and new printing guidelines, and we’re confident that will help to reduce our reliance on paper.  When we have to print, where possible, we use recycled paper.

Reuse
If office equipment or furniture is being replaced, and is still in good condition, we always donate it to a local charity or enterprise rather than throwing it away. We also make sure that equipment is re-used internally wherever possible, to further reduce unnecessary waste.
