Anna Pezzoli’s core area of expertise lies within the field of chemistry, with an emphasis on organic and medicinal chemistry, as well as pharmaceutical technologies. She is vastly experienced at creating and managing global patent portfolios around new chemical entities, having spent many years working in-house for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). This helps her to take a strategic approach to developing IP strategies with both businesses and universities around the world.

Involved in all aspects of the preparation and prosecution of European and foreign patent applications, Anna has deep knowledge of drafting new chemical entity exclusivity (NCE) patents in addition to secondary patents (including for crystalline forms, new therapeutic uses, formulations and methods of manufacturing). She is also experienced at advising on freedom to operate (FTO), due diligence, licence agreements and validity and infringement matters, as well as supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) in her role as a member of our dedicated SPC team.

Anna holds an MSc in chemistry and a postgraduate master’s degree in organic chemistry. Before joining Murgitroyd in 2011, Anna worked as a scientist at Padova University in the peptide chemistry field, GSK’s R&D division as a medicinal chemistry scientist and GSK’s legal department (for Glaxo Wellcome and GSK Global Patents) as a patent attorney.
