Helena Peat joined Murgitroyd’s Newcastle office in 2008 as a patent secretary, and quickly developed a keen interest in intellectual property law. She began studying towards the JEB Trade Mark Qualifying Examinations in 2009, and showed an early aptitude for trade mark law. She gained the highest possible mark in two examinations, and was awarded ITMA’s John Parker Memorial Award.
As her knowledge and experience grew, Helena undertook the CIPA Certificate in Patent Administration in 2011/2012, and was awarded the highest mark in the final examination. Helena progressed quickly through the JEB Trade Mark Advanced Qualifying Examinations whilst completing her training as part of the London trade mark team. She is now a fully qualified UK and European trade mark attorney.
Helena has gained invaluable experience working within different roles at Murgitroyd and has developed a well-rounded knowledge of different aspects of Intellectual Property Law. Although located in our Newcastle office, she works closely with our London trade mark team. She also specialises in a wide range of trade mark matters, including clearance searching, trade mark filings and prosecution, UK and European oppositions and disputes, portfolio management, and changes of ownership.
