Huw Evans attained a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nottingham Trent University and then gained substantial engineering expertise as an electronic design engineer with two large telecommunications companies before joining the patent profession in 1990. Huw has over 27 years’ experience as a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney advising clients ranging from start-ups to SMEs, universities and multinationals both in the UK and overseas.
Huw’s consultancy continued following the acquisition of Chapman IP by Murgitroyd. He joined Chapman IP as a director in 2005 from a position as a partner in a large, London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. Huw’s experience covers a diverse range of technologies, although he specialises in prosecuting and advising on patents relating to electrical and electronic based technologies, wireless communications, semi-conductor devices and optical components.
Huw is one of our trade marks and industrial designs specialists. He also has particular expertise in IP portfolio management.
In addition to his professional work, Huw mentors PhD students at Cardiff University.
