Mark Hickey is a trade mark attorney with over 25 years of experience advising some of the UK’s leading brand owners. A fellow of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, Mark graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of London.
Formerly a partner in the firm Castles, Mark heads up the firms Trade Marks Group. For the past 20 years, he has acted for the UK’s largest pharmaceutical company, and has advised extensively on trade mark clearance, registration, enforcement, and exploitation.
Mark has served on the joint examination board of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, and has extensively lectured on a variety of trade mark-related subjects. He also sits on the Murgitroyd Trade Mark Practice Board.
He has acted for clients in a number of ground-breaking cases, including the registration of the Vienetta shape for Unilever and BP’s green colour. He’s also helped to establish practice in relation to seniorities before EUIPO for British American Tobacco.
