Ruth Chisholm joined Murgitroyd in April 2022 after many years working in Shell International Limited’s Intellectual Property Legal Department. She joined Shell’s IP team in 2014 and qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2016. During this time her day-to-day role included providing in-house global brand related advice to the brand owner, Shell Brands International AG and business units across a variety of disciplines around the world in relation to the protection, exploitation and enforcement of Shell’s intellectual property rights.
Ruth has experience managing all aspects of brand protection within an international matrixed organisation, helping develop strategies to protect intellectual property. Her experience includes advising on trade mark use, trade mark filing and registration, trade mark oppositions (including foreign jurisdictions), copyright advice, domain name portfolio management and domain name disputes. She also has experience managing a large trade mark portfolio.
Whilst working as an in-house specialist for a large energy company Ruth’s experience also extended to managing anti-counterfeiting activities around the world, advising on anti-counterfeiting strategies, instructing investigations, mystery shopper surveys and police raids. She also gained considerable expertise dealing with online trade mark infringements and enforcement matters.
Ruth is also a UK qualified Solicitor and is based in our Croydon office.
