Responsibilities:

Your main task will be to complete Patent translations into French. Typically, this may include:

  • Translating into French
  • Revising, reviewing, post-editing and/or proofreading translations into French, ensuring clarity, consistency and accuracy
  • Developing AiMT post-edition guidelines
  • Developing French style guides and terminology databases
  • Providing feedback
  • Training other linguists
  • Exploring new technology, assessing, reporting
  • Ad-hoc projects as instructed by the Head of the Department

Person Specification: 

You will:

  • be of French mother-tongue
  • hold a relevant University degree or translation qualification
  • be fluent in English

You should also have the following skills:

  • experience in translation/checking
  • excellent French grammar/spelling
  • computer literacy, good working knowledge of MS Office tools
  • keen interest in technology, and the ability to test and report on findings
  • good communication skills
  • eye for detail
  • ability to share and transmit new learning
  • ability to work with deadlines

And advantageously:

  • patent translation experience
  • fluency in a third language
  • knowledge of CAT tools, in particular MemoQ
  • SDL and/or TAUS certificate in
  • post-edition
  • MTPE experience
