Murgitroyd is one of the largest firms of patent and trade mark attorneys in Europe. Murgitroyd is one of the few IP firms that have an in-house Translation Department.

Your main task will be to translate Patents specifications and other documents from English to French. You will also review translations prepared by in-house or external translators and handle other types of Quality Assurance (QA) checks, as well as adapt and format translations. You will process terminology as researched during your translations and reviews for the common benefit of the team. You may be involved in our freelancer vetting and selection processes.

  • You must be of French mother-tongue and hold a recognised translation qualification and/or have experience in the field of translation.
  • Technical knowledge in the field of electronics or chemistry will be a distinct advantage.
  • You must be computer literate, have good communication skills as well as a keen eye for details and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Experience in technical and/or patent translation would be an advantage.

  • Must have excellent English language skills (both written and spoken), and working knowledge of at least two of Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, or Danish.  Knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.

Murgitroyd is one of the few IP firms that have an office in Helsinki handling patents and trademarks, as well as other IP rights, in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, as well as the European Patent Office, World Intellectual Property Organisation, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

If you would like to be part of that team of attorneys, we are currently looking for a trainee European Patent Attorney, preferably in the Mechanical or Mechatronics field.  You must hold a relevant university degree in the Mechanical or Mechatronics field.  The language requirement in order of importance is excellent English (both written and spoken); good Swedish, Norwegian, or Danish; and Finnish.  Knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.   Your main task will be handling patent attorney work, and other IP work, before various Nordic patent offices, as well as EPO, WIPO, and EUIPO.   Full training provided.

The position will be in our Helsinki Office but you may be required to travel from time to time.

Start date by mutual agreement.
