Kerstin Merkens
European Patent Attorney
Kerstin Merkens graduated in physics from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. During her studies, she focussed on solid-state physics. In the course of her studies, she undertook a research internship in Australia. Kerstin has a master’s degree in physics with a specialisation in spintronics and quantum information.
Kerstin has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2014. She began her work in the field of IP in a renowned law firm near Düsseldorf. In the process, she gained experiences at the patent litigation chambers of the District Court of Düsseldorf, the University of Hagen, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in Munich. Kerstin joined Murgitroyd Ltd. in 2021 and is part of our electronics group.
Her work in the field of intellectual property includes patent prosecution and litigation. Her technical focus as European Patent Attorney is in the fields of physics, electronics, spintronics, quantum information, computer-implemented inventions, artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology.
