Elaine Taylor-Shaw

Patent Scientist

York

Elaine Taylor-Shaw joined Murgitroyd in June 2018 as a Patent Scientist following her work in academia. Both her PhD and Post-Doctoral positions were at the University of Strathclyde, with her research focused on the characterisation of nitride semiconductors with emphasis on the III-nitride based compounds GaN, InN and AlN, and their alloys. These alloys have a wide range of applications including light emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes (LDs), solar cells and high power transistors.

Having a background in semiconductor physics Elaine is part of the electronics group and is based at Murgitroyd’s York office, working on a variety of subject matter including electrical, mechanical, electronics and computer-based systems. She is currently working towards being fully qualified in the UK and Europe, and is a student member of Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
