Gordon Stark, a highly skilled and accomplished leader, was appointed as Murgitroyd’s CEO in June 2020 after serving as Chief Operations Officer since 2012.

Joining the firm as a patent attorney in 1998, Gordon initially worked at the Glasgow office, advising both emerging and established life science companies. His background in biotechnology saw him specialising in novel biologics and immunotherapeutics, such as antibody and peptide-based therapies. He demonstrated proficiency in creating patent portfolios for new therapeutic and diagnostic products while providing expert advice on patentability and freedom to operate.

Exhibiting early potential in management, Gordon was entrusted with leading Murgitroyd’s Dublin office in 2004 before returning to his hometown of Edinburgh in 2007 to spearhead the newly established office there. As a pivotal figure within the company, he has successfully overseen the management of Murgitroyd’s offices in Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, and Helsinki, as well as operations and business relationships in Japan.

Gordon’s collaborative and forward-thinking leadership style has proven invaluable when working closely with colleagues and teams across the organisation, to support and enable the company’s ongoing growth. Furthermore, he has played a crucial role in implementing Murgitroyd’s internal Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) initiatives, reflecting the company’s commitment to fostering a modern working environment, built upon an inclusive and engaging culture.
