Global People Director

If you wish to apply for this role please email your CV to: recruit@murgitroyd.com

The purpose of this role

Murgitroyd is a legal professional services organisation which is headquartered in Glasgow with operations across the UK, Europe, China, North and Central America. The overall purpose of the Global People Director is to set and lead the implementation of Murgitroyd’s global people strategy in a way which advances our overall strategic, operational and financial aims and which delivers on our purpose.

We are in the early stages of a four year strategic period and would like to appoint this new role as soon as possible. Our headline aims for the next four years are based around fast, scalable, profitable growth, at the same time as being a great place to work, while delivering a fantastic client-centred experience.

As we want the successful candidate to have freedom around the strategy and planning for which they will be responsible, we are looking for an experienced business leader with strategic vision.

It is crucial that all of our colleagues feel part of the journey ahead of us and colleague engagement will be a major focus of the Global People Director.  Continued growth means that change will be a constant feature in our business and our Global People Director will play a critical role in engaging and leading our people through this.

Also featuring in our strategy will be advancing digitisation and automation, as well as driving forward the quality and high standards which our clients expect from us. All of this and more will mean a big commitment to an innovation agenda which will require learning and skills development, and we want our Global People Director to lead this at pace.

We believe we are ambitious and progressive, but we also know we can keep learning and improving.

It’s important to us to have a strong employer brand across the globe and to be a truly diverse organisation where equality, diversity and inclusion are central. We want to be a company where people choose to work, where they feel they can have a fulfilling career, and enjoy a culture in which they can flourish.

Being a growing, profitable company is beneficial for all of us – our colleagues, our clients and the communities in which we operate. We believe that having a workplace where everyone can thrive and do their best work is the foundation to business success.  We want every single colleague’s experience at Murgitroyd to be a positive one, where our values are at the heart of everything we do.  Fundamental to that is colleagues having clarity around what is expected of them and how it relates to the company’s purpose and goals.

We hope to attract someone who shares our values of trust, unity and confidence and who will bring extensive specialist knowledge and experience. At the same time we want to appoint someone who brings new and different insights and ideas.

Where does the role fit in?

The Global People Director will be part of the Leadership Team and will attend Board meetings. In a structural sense the person will report into the Chief Operating Officer. In practice, the Global People Director will work side by side with the COO, CEO and the rest of the Leadership Team to collectively advance and deliver our 2021-2025 strategy.  The role will be responsible for the People Team.

Hear From Our Team

A career in patents offered me a unique combination of science and law – I like the intellectual challenge. I work with interesting clients and keep in touch with new developments in technology. Murgitroyd is different to other companies. The benefits are excellent and there’s a strong focus on work-life balance.
Terry Devlin, European Patent Attorney
A patent attorney career is stimulating and rewarding, encompassing my interests in technology, design, law and languages. I chose Murgitroyd as I wanted to work in a large, global firm that directly represents multinational clients. The company is very forward thinking, everyone’s friendly and there’s great scope for professional development.
