Could Your Next Board Member Be An Algorithm?

A venture capital firm has appointed ‘Vital’, a computer program, to its board of directors. The firm the algorithm will be ‘working’ for focuses on drugs for age related diseases.

The algorithm is designed to make recommendations just like a human board member would. However, unlike a human, the algorithm will be able to make more scientific decisions based on a large amount of factual data.

Data analysed will include financial information, clinical trials, and previous funding. The algorithm is also programmed to assess the intellectual property owned by the firm.

Can you think of any other computer systems that analyse and understand intellectual property?
