A Child Named Nutella?

In the news this week, a story about a French court preventing parents from naming their new baby daughter Nutella. It even made the BBC news page: link here.

Noting that Nutella is an incredibly popular brand throughout France, and the rest of the world, the court was more concerned that the child would be subject to derision and therefore, the judge ruled that the baby girl should be called Ella instead.

Another little IP fact for you while we’re talking about Nutella… It is owned by Italian company Ferrero and is produced using a specific hazelnut, Nocciola Piemonte, which is a protected geographical indication in the EU.
