Since today is Halloween, we thought we would bring you a story today about a young girl who came up with an idea which was perfect for her parents’ costume-making business: a big, funny, furry, moustache.
During a conversation at dinner time about the current trend for beards and moustaches with her family, Charlotte Berman, 8, came up with the idea of inserting a wire into a big moustache so that it could be bent into funny shapes.
Her parents asked her to draw her idea and, when Charlotte had gone to bed, her dad, Robert, went to their factory to make the first sample. The Super ‘Stache is now available in 20, 30 and 60 inches and the company has sold over 60,000 units in its first year.
Charlotte’s mother, Tina, commented on their decision to patent the idea, “There were other moustaches on the market, but we searched around and couldn’t find one that was interactive like this one. And that’s why we thought we should protect it with a patent.”
Robert and Tina now have a motto: always listen to your children.
