Oscar Somarriba is a member of our Electrical Engineering and Software Patent Search Team.

Oscar joined the firm in 2019 as an Intellectual Property (IP) Engineer. He earned his Dipl.-Ing. in Electronics Engineering from the National University of Engineering (UNI) in Nicaragua, a Licentiate of Engineering (LicEng) in Radio Communication Systems from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Energy from Mondragon University, Spain.

Oscar has worked for the academia, conducted research on wireless data communications and computer security with emphasis in mobile security. He has taught Bachelor and Master level courses on communication systems, telecommunication networks, microwave and satellite systems, electromagnetic waves and radio propagation, computer networking, and operating systems at UNI, where he is a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering. Oscar served as R&D Director at UNI. He participated in a research training at TU Delft, Netherlands on Rural Satellite Communications. He has authored several scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

Oscar’s intellectual property experience has been principally in technical areas such as electronics, communications, wireless communications, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, microwaves and optical fibre devices.

Oscar is based in our Managua office.
