Simon Belcher is an expert in patents relating to medical devices, industrial filtration technologies, polymer processing and shape memory alloys. He also has considerable experience of advising companies in the healthcare sector.

As a consultant, Simon advises our clients on strategic IP issues and drafts new patent applications. He also assists with the presentation of cases at European Patent Office hearings and mentors our junior attorneys.

Before working as a consultant, Simon was a Partner at UDL from 1993 until his retirement from full time practice in 2017. He served as UDL’s managing partner from 2004 to 2007.

Prior to joining UDL, Simon worked in corporate practice, where he qualified as a UK and European Patent Attorney, winning the Moss and Gill prizes for attaining the highest marks in his year in the UK qualification examinations. He qualified as a United States patent agent during a three-year stint in California and so is experienced at working with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
