Luke works across our life sciences, chemistry, and electronics and software teams. Much of his work is focused on computer-implemented inventions (CIIs), computer systems and hardware, optics and AI-based applications — particularly in the augmented and virtual reality sector. He has significant experience of advising clients on patentability, invention capture, drafting and filing strategies, searching and patent vigilance. Although most of his work relates to patent matters before the EPO and the UKIPO, Luke also manages global patent portfolios.

Other specific technology sectors Luke has worked in include medical devices; biopesticides; cell imaging; optics, optoelectronics, and imaging devices; augmented and virtual reality (both hardware and software); AI-based applications (including image analysis and machine vision); renewable technologies (particularly in the marine energy space); casino gaming and monitoring technology; utilities monitoring; and mechanical engineering.

Luke entered the profession in 2016 after completing his PhD in Life Sciences and Bioinformatics at the University of Liverpool. He now works from our Southampton office.
