Dr Beth Marshall’s broad patent experience enables her to specialise in several different technology areas, including renewable energy, oil and gas (including downhole tools, wellbore cleaning, risers and valves), marine equipment, medical devices and extended reality.
Her practice involves patent drafting and prosecution across many jurisdictions, with a focus on the UK, US, Europe, China and Japan.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Physical Science, Beth undertook a PhD in Systems Biology at the University of Aberdeen. Her research involved using the principles of statistical mechanics to develop mathematical models and simulations of messenger RNA in budding yeast.
Beth has led our ESG Team Impact since 2020, she also actively contributes to the work of our ESG Steering Committee. In March 2024, Beth was recognised for her work on Diversity and awarded the prestigious "Shining Light, Top 50 Influential Woman in IP" title by WIPR Diversity.
Beth joined Murgitroyd in 2014. She was appointed Director, Patents in February 2024. Beth is based in our Aberdeen Office.
