Sarah joined Murgitroyd in 2018 as a member of the Patent Support Team, based in the Aberdeen Office and providing support specifically to the Mechanical Patents Group and the Designs Group.
After building her experience and understanding of IP, Sarah undertook the CIPA Patent Administration Certificate, achieving a pass in May 2024.
Sarah’s key activities include providing paralegal support throughout the patent prosecution process, liaising with clients, foreign agents and the Patents and Designs offices for British, European and foreign applications. She provides paralegal support to the Designs Group, and is involved in Design prosecution from filing through to registration. Sarah is also responsible for handling day-to-day deadline management and attending to the legal requirements of patent and design applications worldwide from filing to grant.
Further tasks include providing IP portfolio schedules, handling transfers of rights, preparing cost estimates for assignment recordal programmes and attending to the recordal of assignments worldwide. She also monitors and provides cited documents for Information Disclosure Statements, and prepares Form 3 information for Indian patent applications.
Before joining Murgitroyd, Sarah worked in the Oil and Gas sector and in the Third sector – including charities and other non-profit organisations.
