Shona MacIntyre

Shona joined Murgitroyd in 2017 as part of the Internal Support Team in our Glasgow office where she undertook the CIPA Patent Administration Certificate achieving a pass in March 2018. In 2019 Shona moved to our Aberdeen office to join the team as a Patent Paralegal providing Paralegal support to our Aberdeen based Patent Attorneys. Before joining Murgitroyd Shona worked in both the Whisky and Oil & Gas sector.

Shona’s key activities include; providing paralegal support throughout the patent prosecution process, liaising with clients, foreign agents and the Patents and Designs offices for GB, EP and foreign applications. Shona is also responsible for handling day-to-day deadline management and attending to legal requirements of patent applications worldwide from filing to grant. She is particularly involved in patent administrative tasks associated with worldwide patent prosecution for a leading water technology company.

Shona works closely with our Head of Designs Wendy Crosby, so is heavily involved in Design prosecution from filing through to registration.

Further tasks include providing IP portfolio schedules, handling transfers of rights, preparing cost estimates for assignment recordal programmes and attending to the recordal of assignments worldwide. She also monitors and provides cited documents for Information Disclosures in both the US and Israel, and prepares Form 3 information for Indian patent applications.

In July 2022, Shona was also appointed Designs Project Coordinator for the Paralegal Team. Here responsibilities include coordinating design applications and quotes, ensuring timely allocation of projects and equal distribution between teams, providing updates on any legal changes and ensuring any training is arranged as required.
