Anne Marie Carr specialises in patent work in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Her experience includes antibodies, vaccines, fusion proteins, heat shock proteins, cancer therapies, genetic markers, glycosylation markers, microbiology, immunology and purification methods. She has particular experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the area of antibodies.
Anne Marie has been with Murgitroyd since 2004 and is a Director, Patents at our Dublin office. A qualified European, UK and Irish patent attorney, she deals with all aspects of patents, including drafting, prosecution, oppositions, appeals, due diligence, validity and infringement opinions, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and paediatric extensions.
She also prosecutes patent applications directly before the European, UK and Irish patent offices and deals closely with local counsel for matters relating to prosecution before other patent offices — the USPTO in particular. Anne Marie works with a wide range of clients, including universities, companies and individuals, to develop a suitable intellectual property strategy which meets their specific needs.
She has an Honours Post-Graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland, and an Honours Degree in Biotechnology from the National University of Galway, Ireland. During the course of her studies, she spent some time researching gene expression in the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany.
Anne Marie is responsible for Irish patent practice at Murgitroyd and is a member of Murgitroyd’s SPC team.
