
Annemarie Parsons
Director, Head of Patent Paralegal and Support Group
Annemarie Parsons was appointed Head of Patent Paralegals in July 2026 and is responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Patent Paralegal Department. Annemarie is a highly skilled paralegal with 30 years of experience, responsible for team capacity planning and ensuring that day-to-day workload and demand are processed effectively and efficiently to a consistently high standard. Her role also includes overseeing the standardisation of work across the department, supporting process improvements, preparing and delivering training and training materials and assisting with the career development and continuing professional development of paralegals. Annemarie also plays a key role in client onboarding, stakeholder communication, and ensuring the department continues to provide high-quality support to attorneys and clients.
Annemarie manages patent and design portfolios, liaising closely with attorneys, as well as coordinating with outside counsel and clients to ensure that clients’ IP prosecution needs are implemented accurately and in a timely manner.
Annemarie works very closely with the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and is the immediate past Chair of CIPA’s IP Paralegal Committee, as well as a Lead Course Tutor and Examiner for the introductory and advanced official paralegal qualifications of the UK registered patent profession. Annemarie has also played a key role in the development and launch of the Patent Paralegal Level 3 apprenticeship, including working with Skills England to revise the apprenticeship standard and separately developing the syllabus and supporting learning materials. This work demonstrates her contribution to establishing a clear career pathway for patent paralegals, supporting professional development across the sector, and helping to strengthen the future talent pipeline for the profession.
She is based in the Southampton Office.
