Nick Burton specialises in patents relating to semiconductor technology, including mixed signal devices, car radar and wafer processing and packaging. He also works with clients in the fields of virtual reality and immersive technologies, automotive products and computer-implemented inventions.
Nick is experienced in drafting cases for patent protection in Europe and around the world, alongside patent prosecution at the European Patent Office and UK Intellectual Property Office. He also frequently advises on infringement and validity matters.
Having joined Murgitroyd in 2021 as part of the addition of UDL Intellectual Property, Nick is responsible for our attorney development programme. He previously worked as in-house counsel for a large semiconductor company, advising on patent creation and portfolio management. Nick earned his PhD in physics by studying the magnetic properties of rare earth metals at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
