Russell is Murgitroyd’s Commercial Director, responsible for shaping the firm’s client strategy, market approach and growth agenda. With more than 20 years’ experience leading business development, brand, and market positioning programmes across global professional services, he brings a deep understanding of how organisations create value through insight, innovation and client partnership.

Before joining Murgitroyd, Russell held senior leadership roles at international law and professional services firms, where he led global client programmes, major rebrands, market expansion initiatives and award winning innovation projects. His career spans journalism, marketing and business strategy — a combination that enables him to interpret market trends, anticipate client needs and help businesses position themselves for the future.

At Murgitroyd, Russell focuses on ensuring clients receive clear, commercially grounded advice that supports their growth today and prepares them for tomorrow. He works closely with attorneys and leadership teams to strengthen client relationships, elevate market visibility and ensures every interaction delivers clarity, value and confidence.

Russell leads the development of insight driven programmes that help clients navigate change, protect their ideas and maximise the value of their intellectual property. His work centres on building a culture of commercial excellence across the firm, enabling attorneys to engage more effectively with clients, anticipate opportunity and deliver the strategic support that modern businesses expect.
