Flex Marine Power Ltd is a Scottish innovative company creating tidal turbine technology which will enable coastal communities to thrive through harnessing the power of the sea.  

With climate and energy being major environmental issues of our time, it means there is a pressing need for new low carbon local energy sources.  Wind and solar farms are great energy low energy alternatives and fulfil this need to an extent, but as they both rely on weather conditions (wind and sunlight) - unpredictability is a major concern.

Tidal energy is uniquely predictable.

Founder David Mummery and his team have found that tidal energy can be mathematically forecast years ahead to the nearest minute, which makes it a valuable energy source in the UK and globally.

11% of the UK’s electricity demand could be provided by tidal energy, but this huge low carbon energy potential is significantly unused and going to waste.
