Director, Patents

Jonathan Morris deals with a wide range of technologies, mainly in the fields of mechanical, manufacturing and electrical engineering. He has particular experience with inventions in the following sectors: automotive, renewable energy, industrial systems and components, aerospace, construction, manufacturing, agricultural equipment, medical devices, household goods, packaging, lighting, mining equipment and office equipment.

His areas of expertise include drafting patent specifications, prosecuting patent applications at the European Patent Office (EPO) and the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), EPO oppositions and appeals, and advising clients on foreign filing strategies, infringement, validity and freedom to operate (FTO) opinions.

Jonathan also assists clients to protect their designs. Jonathan prepares and files registered design applications at the European Union designs registry (EUIPO) and the UKIPO.

Jonathan has extensive experience of working with SMEs, helping clients to make strategic decisions to protect their IP and innovations.

Jonathan entered the profession in 1999. Jonathan joined Murgitroyd as part of the addition of the UDL team to the Murgitroyd team in October 2021.

Jonathan is based in our Milton Keynes Office.
