Annabel Hanratty advises clients from global corporations to universities and entrepreneurs across a diverse range of sectors including electronics, automotive, retail, medical, broadcasting, financial, beauty, sports, and food and drink.

Annabel’s practice focuses on trade mark clearance and availability searching, strategy, filing, prosecution, portfolio management, contentious matters including oppositions, cancellation actions and domain disputes, and passing off and trade mark infringement advice.

During the qualifying examinations, Annabel was awarded both prizes for attaining the highest overall grades of any student on the relevant courses – the “Best Overall Student” prize was awarded to Annabel by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London and related to performance in the foundation and intermediate examinations, and Annabel was awarded the ITMA (Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys) Prize for the highest aggregate mark on the Nottingham Law School course final exams to qualify as a UK trade mark attorney.

Prior to joining Murgitroyd as a Director in February 2023, Annabel worked at a national full service law firm in the IP department and prior to that for 15+ years at UDL – a national patent and trade mark attorney firm whose team joined the Murgitroyd team in 2021.

Annabel is based between our Cardiff and London Central offices.
