Chief Executive

As the Chief Executive Officer of Murgitroyd, Gordon brings a dynamic blend of strategic vision, industry expertise, and leadership excellence to the helm of one of the most progressive IP firms in the industry. Since joining the company over 25 years ago, his journey with the company has been marked by an unwavering commitment to driving growth, building strong client relationships, and nurturing a culture of excellence.

At the core of his responsibilities, Gordon oversees the overall strategic direction of the firm, ensuring that Murgitroyd not only meets but exceeds the evolving needs of its diverse client base. His leadership is characterized by a clear focus on people and culture, aligned to a deep understanding of market trends and client expectations.

Gordon holds a strong belief in the power of teamwork, collaboration and inclusivity. He champions a work environment where ideas flourish, and diverse perspectives are valued. This ethos not only empowers his team to excel but also resonates in the firm’s core values of trust, unity and confidence. The importance of building deep and enduring relationships is reflected in Murgitroyd’s approach to client engagement, where bespoke, client-centric solutions underpin the strategically focused client relationships which Murgitroyd strives to build.

Prior to his role as CEO, Gordon held various leadership positions within the firm, including Chief Operations Officer and Executive Director of Murgitroyd Group PLC, contributing significantly to its strategic planning and operational efficiency. As a qualified UK and European Patent Attorney, Gordon has also historically advised clients in the biotechnology sector, and led the delivery of the company’s growth strategy on an office and regional basis.

Gordon holds a first class Honours Degree in Immunology from the University of Edinburgh, and is an active member of Vistage. Outside of the office, he is passionate about endurance sports including cycling and running, and also enjoys travel and experiencing new cultures.

Gordon is mainly based in our headquarters in Glasgow.
