Terence’s practice focuses on the areas of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, with an emphasis on the automotive and healthcare fields, in which he is passionate about the real-world application of innovation.
With a background in mathematics, Terence has the technical skills and knowledge required to deeply understand technology. Thanks to his keen eye for detail and vast experience in dealing with patent authorities, Terence is able to explain the key features of inventions clearly and concisely to ensure the maximum levels of patent protection are achieved. An ability to keep up with the many nuances of law before the UKIPO and EPO has led to his renown as a ‘fixer’ in matters where prosecution has dragged on or taken a turn for the worst.
Terence is also highly experienced in the field of blockchain technology. He has drafted and prosecuted a significant number of patent applications for one of the world’s most prolific filers of blockchain-related patents. This has led to him possessing considerable knowledge of prosecuting patent applications across many jurisdictions including the UK, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, India, Australia and the US.
With further skills including advising on difficult procedural matters (such as restoration applications) and IP transactions (especially assignments, licenses and securities relating to patents), Terence is regarded as one of the top up-and-coming patent attorneys in the country. He regularly features in The Legal 500 and as a ‘Rising Star’ in the IP industry by Managing Intellectual Property (IP Stars), as well as sitting on CIPA’s Patents Committee.
A keen writer, Terence regularly shares his knowledge and perspective on all things IP. He has previously been recognised as the top UK ‘legal influencer’ in the IP industry by Lexology.
