Murgitroyd are seeking a part-qualified, full time Trade Mark Attorney to join our Leeds Trade Mark team.

Applicants should have a strong academic background and will already be well on the way to final qualification, having completed at least two years of supervised attorney level work within a Trade Mark team in legal practice or in-house.  In addition, you will have already successfully achieved the relevant postgraduate certification.  You will be given the opportunity to hit the ground running, working with direct clients and foreign attorneys from the outset, with the full support of the senior attorney and paralegal team based in Leeds.

Hear From Our Team

A career in patents offered me a unique combination of science and law – I like the intellectual challenge. I work with interesting clients and keep in touch with new developments in technology. Murgitroyd is different to other companies. The benefits are excellent and there’s a strong focus on work-life balance.
Terry Devlin, European Patent Attorney
A patent attorney career is stimulating and rewarding, encompassing my interests in technology, design, law and languages. I chose Murgitroyd as I wanted to work in a large, global firm that directly represents multinational clients. The company is very forward thinking, everyone’s friendly and there’s great scope for professional development.
I started at Murgitroyd during the lockdown! It was a really positive experience thanks to everybody's support. At Murgitroyd I found great team spirit, interesting cases and great clients.
Gabrielle Radault, European Patent Attorney
Having spent my university life studying physics and other engineering disciplines, a career related to law seemed unfathomable. However, my career as a trainee has turned out to be both challenging and satisfying. Murgitroyd offers excellent support to their trainees in terms of both training and general work-life balance - especially during the new working from home lifestyle.
Joseph Spencer, Patent Scientist
It was during my penultimate year of University that I decided to pursue a career in IP. I wanted to work for a well-established company which provided opportunities and scope for professional development whilst maintaining a community-like feel. I have found this and more at Murgitroyd. As a recent graduate, any anticipation I had about working for a large, multi-national law firm was quickly quelled and I have been really well supported in my role as a Trainee. A career in patents is certainly not a walk in the park, but the intellectual challenge, varied workload and interesting clients mean that no day is ever dull.
Rosalie Hide, Patent Scientist
I wanted to work for Murgitroyd as I had a keen interest in intellectual property during my time at university and considered it a great opportunity to utilise my law degree outside of the traditional 'solicitor' career path. Despite the fact that there are offices all over the world, Murgitroyd has a real sense of community and togetherness, which is invaluable as a trainee.
Holly Cameron, Trainee Trade Mark Attorney
Murgitroyd provide first class training and support to trainees. I would recommend Murgitroyd to anyone aspiring to become a Patent Attorney. The firm offers a friendly and welcoming environment where team work is encouraged. I am certain this will allow me to realise my full potential following my qualification as a UK and European Patent Attorney under the firm’s stewardship.
Aaron Lucas, Patent Attorney
Murgitroyd is a fantastic top-tier IP firm to work for, especially as a part-qualified attorney. The training and support that I've been given have been second to none. Working under several attorneys with different backgrounds, technical knowledge and styles has given me a well-rounded learning experience. I really appreciate the collegiate atmosphere that comes from having a body of other trainee attorneys to study with. Learning in group tutorials means we can pool our knowledge and experiences so that everyone benefits.
Jamie Ingram, Patent Scientist
