Dr Elaine Taylor-Shaw
- PG Cert in Intellectual Property, Bournemouth University
- MSci Physics (1st Class), University of Strathclyde
- PhD Semiconductor Physics, University of Strathclyde
Elaine Taylor-Shaw joined Murgitroyd in June 2018 as a Patent Scientist following her work in academia. Both her PhD and Post-Doctoral positions were at the University of Strathclyde, with her research focused on the characterisation of nitride semiconductors with emphasis on the III-nitride based compounds GaN, InN and AlN, and their alloys. These alloys have a wide range of applications including light emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes (LDs), solar cells and high power transistors.
Having a background in semiconductor physics Elaine is part of the electronics group and is based at Murgitroyd’s York office, working on a variety of subject matter including electrical, mechanical, electronics and computer-based systems. She is currently working towards being fully qualified in the UK and Europe, and is a student member of Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
Core Expertise: Nitride semiconductors, semiconductor physics, electrical, mechanical, electronics, light emitting diodes, laser diodes, solar cells, transistors, computer systems, telecommunications, blockchain, cryptocurrency and software.
