Patent Scientist
Elaine Taylor-Shaw joined Murgitroyd in June 2018 as a Patent Scientist following her work in academia. Both her PhD and Postdoctoral positions were at the University of Strathclyde, with her research focused on the characterisation of nitride semiconductors, with an emphasis on the III-nitride-based compounds GaN, InN, and AlN, as well as their alloys. These alloys have a wide range of applications, including light-emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes (LDs), solar cells and high-power transistors.
Having a background in semiconductor physics, Elaine is part of the electronics group and is based at Murgitroyd’s York office, working on a variety of subject matter including electrical, mechanical, electronics and computer-based systems. She is currently working towards being fully qualified in the UK and Europe, and is a student member of Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
