Martin Shaw

Martin Shaw qualified as a European Patent Attorney in July 2023 after joining Murgitroyd in June 2021. Martin works within our mechanical team, having previously worked for over 4 years at another IP firm in the electronics sector.
Martin was a PhD student at the University of Strathclyde, with his research focused on the characterisation of semiconductor alloys which have potential uses in water-splitting devices and other solar energy absorption applications; and prior to this Martin also completed an integrated master’s degree in Physics from the University of Strathclyde.
Martin is based at Murgitroyd’s York office, working on a variety of subject-matter. He is part-qualified and is currently working toward being fully qualified in the UK, and is a student member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
