Thomas Gibb
Chief Compliance Officer
Thomas Gibb is a qualified UK and European patent attorney based in our Southampton Office. As Chief Compliance Officer, Thomas chairs Murgitroyd’s Practice Board and has responsibility for the professional activities of Murgitroyd. Day to day, Thomas handles patent and design matters for clients of all sizes and is particularly experienced in the management and prosecution of large patent portfolios.
Thomas has also worked with many clients in contentious matters, both before the European Patent Office and more generally. Thomas joined Murgitroyd after completing a PhD in Chemistry at Imperial College London, focusing on devices for single-molecule detection and their integration into microfluidic platforms.
Before his PhD he obtained both a First Class BA and MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Materials Science and Metallurgy.
During his time at university, Thomas was awarded a Selwyn College (Cambridge) scholarship for all four years of study. He was also awarded the Armourers & Brasiers’ AWE prize in his penultimate and final years.
