Rahila (Rae) Bhat
European Patent Attorney
Rahila Bhat is a member of our chemistry and biotechnology patent team.
Rae joined the firm in 2020 as a trainee patent attorney. She graduated from the University of Liverpool where she went on to complete her PhD research in polymer chemistry and nanotechnology. After her PhD, she held a Marie Curie Fellowship in Germany, researching stem cells and regenerative medicine. During her research tenure, she authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at conferences. She then moved back to the UK to work for multinational companies, beginning her career as an in-house trainee. This role provided valuable experience in IP strategy and freedom-to-operate issues, as well as valuable commercial and innovation experience in both the personal care and paint sectors.
Rae qualified as a European Patent Attorney in July 2024 and is based in our York office.
