Rosie Hardy is a Director based in Murgitroyd’s York office and her practice spans the fields of physics and engineering. She works with a range of clients and is valued for her blend of technical expertise, commercial savvy and intellectual property strategy. In addition to drafting and prosecuting patent applications, Rosie specialises in managing and enforcing patent rights, as well as dealing with oppositions and appeals and avoiding infringement of third party patent rights.

Rosie studied Physics at Imperial College, London and started in the patent profession as a Patent Examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office, which has proved invaluable in practice.

Rosie has since worked as a Patent Attorney for over 20 years, and she is noted for her diligence and creative solutions in pursuing the best outcomes for her clients. Within the fields of physics and engineering, Rosie has extensive experience in securing patent protection for electromechanical devices, rail technology, automotive parts, valves, power generation, clean technology, oil and gas exploration, consumer products and medical apparatus. Other highlights include helping clients develop effective patent portfolios, successfully opposing European and US patents, preparing arguments for the US Supreme Court and acting as a patent expert in UK patent litigation.

Keen to share her experience and the relevance of intellectual property, Rosie enjoys training new recruits and speaking at conferences both in the UK and abroad.
